Tennis is my passion. I like to play it, I like to teach it and I like to see other people’s enjoyment as I help them to develop and improve their game. I’m delighted to be part of Wychwoods Club, where I hope to share my passion with you all. When I’m not coaching, I still like to play competitive tennis for various clubs. I strongly believe this helps me as a coach. Whether you are a highly competitive team player or a complete beginner or are returning after a break, I am here to help you fulfil your potential and get the most out of your tennis.

Mark Stratford LTA Level 1 

Having been a Club member for some 25 years, playing for the Mens and Mixed Doubles Teams, taking part in the Singles Box Ladder, Club Tournaments, I wanted to share my enjoyment of the game with the next generations, and give something back. Attaining my Level 1 Coaching qualification in 2022 I now regularly assist Faith with Red and Orange groups in the junior tennis programme. My own children were part of the programme during Chris Hampton’s first stint at the Club and have benefited in later life being able to ‘pick up a racket’ wherever they happen to be and enjoy a game. 

My past experience includes being a Junior Football Coach for six years, with Wychwoods Football Club. A fun time taking teams through the age groups, not so fun marking out the touch lines first thing on a Saturday morning. At least we don’t have to do that in tennis. 

Denise Shepherd

I'm Denise Shepherd one of the Club's new coaches, having completed the LTA Instructor course.

I've played tennis competitively since before I can remember and have a love of tactics in the game. Along with coaching I play in our Women's and Mixed Teams together with the Oxfordshire County slightly oldies.

I am keen on developing fully rounded players – with a background in triathlon (having competed for GB age group in European competitions) I believe that a strong fitness ethic together with developing problem solving skills makes for some fun tennis and creates a better more competitive player. 

Alex Williamson LTA Level 1 

I'm Alex Williamson and I am in sixth form at Chipping Norton School. I  have always enjoyed the world of sport and I love playing and coaching tennis at Wychwoods. I have assisted Faith and Chris previously for several years now and in 2022 I got my LTA Level 1 coaching qualification. I currently coach on Saturday mornings and holiday camps.

Deaval

I’m Deavel aka D, recently joined the tennis coaching team, where I am a coaching assistant for the minis. Also during holidays, holiday camps. I am a keen player of 5 yrs and competing in tournaments. I’m looking forward to undertaking my level 1 coaching qualification this summer and inspiring the next generation of young players in a sport that I love. Looking forward to hitting some balls with you.
